Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information PinSpark handles when you use our mobile app, website, and related services, and the choices available to you.

1. Who we are and what this covers

PinSpark provides location-aware spoken stories for walks, drives, and travel. In this policy, “PinSpark,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the provider of the PinSpark app and services. This policy applies to the PinSpark mobile app, pinspark.ai, and the services that support them.

2. Information we collect

Account and profile information

When you sign in, we receive and store an account identifier, name, email address, authentication provider, and related sign-in records. Depending on your sign-in choice, Apple may provide a relay email address instead of your personal email. You may also save a display name, home city or region, language, content sensitivity, narration, playback, and notification preferences.

Location and motion information

With your device permission, PinSpark receives precise location, location accuracy, and timestamps to start trips, find nearby places, trigger relevant stories, show your trip history, and adapt the experience as you move. During an active trip, location may continue in the background while the app is locked or in your pocket. We also use motion activity to infer whether you are on foot, riding, or driving so we can adjust story pacing and location behavior.

If you save a home location, we store the selected city, region, country, and map coordinates for that place. PinSpark does not ask you to enter a street address as your home location.

Trips, stories, and interactions

We store trip areas and start locations, trip times and duration, stories offered or added, reading and listening activity, narration choices, trivia answers, feedback and ratings, and story or trip share links you create. Shared links may make the selected story or trip content available to anyone who has the link. You can stop sharing a trip link in the app. PinSpark does not currently provide an in-app control to revoke a standalone story link.

Purchases and entitlements

If you make an in-app purchase, we receive product and transaction identifiers, purchase and renewal status, subscription or pass dates, refunds or revocations, credit balances, and fulfillment history. The App Store or Google Play processes your payment details; PinSpark does not receive your full payment-card or bank-account number.

Device, communications, and technical information

We may collect an app installation identifier, push-notification token, platform, app version and build, language, time zone, IP address, user agent, session and security information, and website cookies or similar storage. If you contact us, we collect the message and contact information you provide.

Usage and diagnostics

We collect events about how the app and website are used, such as feature interactions, story playback events, timestamps, trip-related activity, notification delivery or opens, and error or performance information. Some events are linked to your account or trip; others may be collected in an aggregated or non-account form.

3. How we collect information

  • From you, when you sign in, choose preferences, start a trip, make a purchase, share content, submit feedback, or contact us.
  • From your device, through permissions, app events, network requests, and local or secure storage.
  • From service providers, including sign-in providers, app stores, mapping and place-information providers, and hosting or analytics providers.

4. How we use information

  • create and secure your account and keep you signed in;
  • provide location-aware trips, maps, stories, narration, history, sharing, trivia, and notifications;
  • personalize stories, language, pacing, and playback;
  • process and fulfill purchases, subscriptions, passes, promotions, credits, restores, and refunds;
  • measure feature use, troubleshoot problems, maintain reliability, prevent abuse, and improve PinSpark;
  • respond to requests and provide support;
  • comply with law and protect users, PinSpark, and others.

5. How we disclose information

We disclose information only as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to the following categories of recipients:

  • Infrastructure providers that host the website, APIs, databases, files, security controls, and operational metrics, including Vercel, database hosting providers, and Cloudflare.
  • Sign-in providers you select, such as Apple, Google, or Discord.
  • Map, location, and place-information providers, such as Google, Mapbox, Foursquare, and OpenStreetMap ecosystem services. A location or place query may be sent to these providers to return map or place information.
  • AI, speech, and media providers, such as OpenAI, Google, OpenRouter, Vercel AI Gateway, fal, and Speechify. We may send a place name or coordinates and story context to generate, translate, classify, illustrate, or narrate PinSpark content.
  • App platform providers, including Apple, Google, and Expo, for purchases, sign-in, app delivery, and push notifications.
  • Other people at your direction, when you create or send a public story or trip share link.
  • Authorities or transaction parties, when required by law, necessary to protect rights and safety, or involved in a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of the service, subject to appropriate protections.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use PinSpark data to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for targeted advertising, and PinSpark does not display third-party advertising. Service providers must protect information consistently with their obligations to us and applicable law.

6. Location and device permissions

You can deny or withdraw location, motion, and notification permissions in your device settings. You can also turn promotional notifications off in PinSpark. Without location permission, core nearby-trip features may not work. PinSpark requests location for an active experience; it does not request iOS “Always” location access.

7. Retention and deletion

We retain account and service information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide PinSpark. Retention varies by record: short-lived sessions and request-safety records expire; trip history and preferences remain until deleted; revoked share links remain disabled; and purchase, credit-ledger, security, fraud-prevention, tax, and legal records may be kept longer when required to document transactions or comply with law. Backups may retain deleted information for a limited recovery period before they are overwritten.

To request deletion of your account and associated personal information, email privacy@pinspark.ai from the email associated with your account. We may verify your identity before completing a request. We will delete or de-identify information unless retention is required or permitted by law. Account deletion does not automatically cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; manage or cancel the subscription through the store account used to purchase it.

8. Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information, and to appeal a decision about a request. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise a right, contact privacy@pinspark.ai. You will not be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right.

You can change profile, narration, content, and notification choices in the app; revoke device permissions in system settings; stop sharing public trip links in the app; and manage subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account. To ask about a standalone story link, contact privacy@pinspark.ai.

9. Legal bases for processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to perform our agreement with you, with your consent, for our legitimate interests in operating and improving a safe and reliable service, and to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time, but withdrawal does not affect prior processing.

10. International data transfers

PinSpark and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries that may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including access controls, secure authentication, encrypted network connections, and restricted service credentials. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children

PinSpark is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If local law sets a higher age for a child to consent to data processing, a parent or guardian must provide any required consent. Contact us if you believe a child provided information without appropriate permission.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as PinSpark or applicable requirements change. We will post the updated policy here and revise the date above. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice when required.
